Behold, the new tap screen watch from Timex. This is my permanent time piece for runs and has replaced the Garmin FR60. I decided to swap out watches because I really needed to get back to the basics and keep it simple. Most of my regular runs and workouts are time based vs. specific mileage. The Garmin was an excellent, accurate, and feature loaded watch that I do recommend to anyone looking to track every nook and cranny of their training. On to the new timepiece:
The Timex Ironman Sleek is simple, light, and has a huge display (similar in size to the old Nike Vapor). These were all factors that I looked into when searching for a new watch. The coolest thing about this watch is the tap screen which can be set to light, medium, or hard. To start the watch you simply tap on the huge watch face, a beep sounds, and you’re off. Dead simple. The watch stores 150 laps, multiple runs, has an interval timer, drink / food reminders, and more. During a race it is going to be great to be able to easily read the time and get lap splits by tapping the screen and not worrying about a physical button anymore.
